WILMA J. NIX

Wilma Jean Nix, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 11:10 a.m. Sunday, August 11, 2024 on her 84th birthday, at Hospice of Miami County. She was born August 11, 1940 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Shelby and Lola (Roland) Hodge. She married Bill E. Nix, Sr. October 1, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana; and he preceded her in death July 30, 2007.

Survivors include four daughters, Pamela Nix of Troy, Donna Blanton of Troy, Penny (Elmer) Hall of Piqua, Theresa (Rodd) Hirt of Vandalia; a son, Bill (Krista) Nix, Jr. of Piqua; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Buddy, Marshall, Leonard, J.D., James; a sister, Bonnie; a daughter, Torey Ross; and a great grandson, Hendrick Nix.

Mrs. Nix graduated from Edison State Community College and began her career in Real Estate in 1979 when she earned her license and eventually became a broker. She established her own business, Wilma Nix Realty. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in celebrating holidays, sewing, decorating her home, crafting flower arrangements, cooking, teaching herself pottery, drawing and tending to her beautiful flower garden. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. Wilma’s life was marked by her determined spirit to defend what she believed in, and her strong faith. Mawmaw will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.

A graveside service to honor her life will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Keith A. Gebhart officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, Inc. 3230 N.
