William S. "Steve" Vogler, 86, of Piqua, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024 at Hospice of Miami County after a short illness. He was born August 7, 1937 in Piqua to the late Gerald H. and Mary L. (Bixler) Vogler Black. He married Ann C. (Kihlman) Vogler December 21, 1964, in Stockholm Sweden, and she preceded him in death March 1, 2021.

Steve is survived by four children, Julie (Mark) Sliker of Chugiak, Alaska, Melissa (Rick) Harmon, Melinda (Victor) McBride and Jerred (Nichole) Vogler all of Piqua; eleven grandchildren, Edward (Heidi) Sliker, Mark (Kayla) Sliker, Brian Sliker, Hannah (Dustin) Wenrick, Billy Booth, Alex (Lisa) Harmon, Josh (Sarah) McBride, Victoria McBride, William "Trey" Vogler, Tyler Renner, and Amanda Vogler; sixteen great-grandchildren, Jayden, Peyton, Olivia, Hunter, Jaxen, Knox, Raphael, Soledad, Henry, Willow, Wyatt, Adelle, Leon, Guinevere, Magnus, and Elowen; also many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Vogler; and a granddaughter, Lilliann McBride.

Steve was a graduate of Houston High School, Class of 1955. He previously was a member of the Lockington United Methodist Church. Steve wore many hats throughout his working years, starting with driving the Milk Truck for the family business, and the Vogler Pure Oil Company, and eventually he was the owner of Vogler Vending and had many businesses and friends he made through his routes. Steve was a 32nd Degree Mason, and was a member of the former Piqua Masonic Lodge and the Sidney Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the former Piqua Elks, the Smoothers Car Club, and the Piqua Boat & Ski Club. Steve was a professional water skier and boat racer, and was also qualified to drive the boats in the water skiing tournaments. Steve won many water skiing and boat racing tournaments all over the country. It is said that Steve was the 3rd person ever to barefoot water ski. He thoroughly enjoyed excelling at water sports and remained close with the friends made there. He also liked to ride motorcycles and went to Bike Week in Florida and Sturgis at times over the years. Steve also had his private pilot's license, he loved Corvettes and enjoyed bowling in tournaments in the past. He also enjoyed going to the Lighthouse Cafe for breakfast every day and sometimes lunch as well, and he enjoyed the friends made there as well.

A service to honor Steve's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Keith Gebhart officiating. A Masonic Service will be held at 5:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Beechwood Cemetery in Lockington. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home as well. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, 3230 N.
