William John “Jack” Liddy, 73, of Troy, passed away peacefully at 12:34 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Hospice of Miami County. He was born January 27, 1950 in Piqua to the late John W. and Frances “Frankie” (Koon) Liddy. He married Patricia A. “Patty” Phillis April 12, 1969 in Piqua; a union that would span 53 years, and she preceded him in death September 8, 2022.
Survivors include three children, John (Kelly) Liddy of Eaton, Amy (Jeff) Lentz of Troy, Mary (Scott) Copen of Troy; ten grandchildren, Jack Liddy, Jacob (Jessi) Liddy, Joshua Liddy, Abby (Andrew) Collins, Justin Liddy, Brandon Beasley, Ryan Beasley, Logan Crawford, Lainey Crawford, Matt Copen; four sisters, Susie Wise of Piqua, Becky (Mike) Carr of Columbus, Aggie (Jim) Wilson of Troy, Margie Liddy of Dayton; and four brothers, Patrick (Joanie) Liddy of Troy, Dan (Teresa) Liddy of Troy, Joe (Lisa) Liddy of Alabama, and Jeff (MaryAnn) Liddy of Florida. He was preceded in death by one sister, Chris Cianciolo.
Jack was a 1968 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He worked for many years as a mechanical contractor and Senior Project Manager and focused primarily on HVAC systems. Additionally, he owned and operated his own business; LS Piping, for over 10 years. Jack absolutely adored his family and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren over the years and supporting them in all their activities as they grew. He loved the Christmas Season and Christmas lights, and for many years enjoyed decorating his own house. He could be found often during Christmas volunteering his time to play Santa for other families and companies alike. He enjoyed vacationing, especially to visit the beach. He also loved Sci-Fi movies and shows. In his younger years he enjoyed camping, playing golf and riding motorcycles. He will be remembered as a hardworking, kind and generous man with a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor.
A gathering of family and friends to honor his life will be held from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
