April 5, 1941 ~ May 26, 2022 (age 81)


William D. “Don” Emery, 81, of Piqua, passed away at 4:08 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 in his home. He was born April 5, 1941 in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania to the late William Nolan and Betty (Randall) Emery. He married Norma D. Young March 6, 1965 in Piqua; and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Gregory Todd (Brooke) Emery of Troy, Chad Ransom (Lisa) Emery of Piqua; five grandchildren, Brandon, Ellyana, Cora, Ariella, Adriana; two brothers, Randy (Lupe) Emery of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Rich (Debbie) Emery of Hamilton; and one sister, Sandy Lindquist of Hamilton.

Mr. Emery was a 1959 graduate of Covington High School. He served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Puerto Rico during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for ChemLawn for over twenty-three years and was the manager for the equipment and research center in Troy. He then worked for Barrett Paving Materials as a job foreman before he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Post #184 as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Covington. He served his community as a past City Commissioner for the City of Piqua. He was an avid bowler as well as a coach for little league baseball in Piqua. He had a knack for sports, especially baseball and basketball where he worked as an umpire and official for the regular season as well as State Tournaments. He was also a die hard fan of the Cleveland Browns. He loved baseball but more importantly loved watching his grandchildren play and looked forward to attending any and all of their games he could. Additionally, he loved traveling to Destin, Florida with his family, especially his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them.

A service to honor his life will begin at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Larry Butt officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
