WILLIAM CUMMINS Obituary

WILLIAM KEITH CUMMINS

William Keith Cummins, 73, of Brookville, Indiana passed away at 5:42 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center as the result of an automobile accident. He was born January 6, 1948 in Piqua to the late William Fred and Jane (Cromer) Cummins. He married Kimberly S. Davis August 17, 1968 in Piqua and she survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Robert (Mindy) Cummins of Columbus, Derek (Summer) Cummins both of Columbus, Trent Cummins of Ft. Meyers, Florida; seven grandchildren, Megan, Logan, Allison, Parker, Evelyn, Branton, Max; a sister, Carol Cummins of Miamisburg; a niece, Molly (Joe) Bingaman; a nephew, Andy Peaso; two brothers-in-law, Michael (Bonnie) Davis, Brett (Julie) Davis; and many other cousins, relatives and friends.

Keith was a graduate of Piqua Central High School, where he was the captain of the football team and defensive MVP of the basketball team. He was recruited to Cornell University to study and earn a Bachelor of Science in engineering. He and his bride to be, Kimberly Sue Davis, married following graduation. He excelled on and off the football field, as a defense back. Keith had many offers to continue his love for football, but decided to take an opportunity to work for Delphi Division of General Motors in 1970 as a general supervisor. His new position allowed him to travel the world. He and his young family were stationed in Portugal for 4 years, when he agreed to work overseas with Delphi.   He loved the travel he got to experience, exploring the world including Poland, Austria, China and South America, where he lived for a short while. Keith retired in 2008. Mr. Cummins was very charitable, as evidenced by his contributions to many causes he believed in as well as his engagement with charitable organizations such as The United Way of Dayton where he served as the former chairman. He was recognized by the Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives in 2020. Keith loved going to watch his grandkids play sports as well as attending high school football playoff tournaments with his sons. He was an avid golfer and loved walking on Ft. Myers Beach for miles when he was at his second home. He was an amazing husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, and friend. He would never hesitate to put his family first. He will be truly missed by so many.
