WILLIAM EZRA BUTTS, SR.

William Ezra Butts, Sr., 70, of Piqua, died at 12:49 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022 at his home. He was born June 7, 1951 in Cincinnati to the late Lester and Zella (Wesley) Butts. He married Amy S. Clark September 11, 2001 in Troy; and she preceded him in death May 23, 2020.

Survivors include six sons, Shawn (Satomi) Trisler of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, William E. (Christen) Butts, II. of Piqua, Steve Butts of Sidney, Ricky Carrol of Greenville, T.J. (Devyn) Meads of Piqua, Rob (Amanda) Kiser of Piqua; five daughters, Teresa Fierstos of Pendleton, Indiana, Charity (Tony) Hough of Wabash, Indiana, Paula (George) Pierce of Huber Heights, Ashley Meads of Union, April (Craig) Pence of Botkins; 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and six siblings, Melinda (Eddie) Hanshaw of Troy, Wauneta Bell of Piqua, Eddie (Roxanne) Butts of Troy, Carol Ann of Dayton, Tommy of California, and Hazel Lee of Dayton. He was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin.

Mr. Butts worked for many years for General Tire, American Trim, and Hobart Brothers. He served proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Covington, AmVets and the American Legion both in Sidney, and the Loyal Order of Moose in Troy. He enjoyed working on and restoring cars. He enjoyed watching football and baseball; especially the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed being around his family and playing computer games.

A graveside service to honor his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Dayton National Cemetery where full military honors will be provided. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby County Veterans Services 133 S. Ohio St., Sidney, OH 45365.
