Walda J. "Wally" Reeves, 80, of Piqua, passed away at 2:26 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born October 8, 1941 in Piqua to the late Robert and Ruthabelle (Elliott) Gard. She married Wayne P. Reeves June 12, 1971 in Piqua; and he preceded her in death April 14, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Jonathan Reeves of Piqua; two daughters, Sarah (Tony) Murphy of Piqua, Cindi (Robert) Raleigh of Carmel, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Langston; and one sister, Katherine Gard.
Mrs. Reeves was a 1959 graduate of Piqua Central High School and a 1963 graduate of Miami University; earning her degree in education. She worked as a substitute teacher for local schools and as the Spanish teacher at Covington and Bradford High Schools. She then worked for the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. for over sixteen years before she retired. In her retirement, she worked part time as a cashier for Ulbrich’s IGA. She enjoyed reading; especially mystery novels. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working her SUDOKU books. She will be remembered for her kindness and her wonderful sense of humor.
A gathering of family and friends to honor her life will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
