Timothy R. Petty, 57, of Piqua, passed away unexpectedly at 2:56 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024 at his home. He was born August 23, 1966 in Piqua to the late Howard M. “Mitch” and Janice E. (Long) Petty.
Survivors include three children, Alisha (Evan) Varney of Troy, Jerrod (Heather) Petty of Xenia, Alanna (Brad) Wagner of Piqua; six grandchildren, Braxton, Laine, Kenzie Varney, Aubrey Wagner, Raelynn, Rowen Petty; three step grandchildren, Chris, Adyson, Jillyan Petty; five siblings, Deborah Petty of Piqua, Cathy (Phil) Baker of Rushville, Randy (Amie) Petty of Piqua, Valerie (Scott) Frazier of Piqua, D. Scott Petty of Piqua; a half brother, Mitchell (Sandy) Petty of Mt. Gilead; a brother-in-law Rick Jones of Piqua; his special friends, Duane & Carol Kemp; twelve nieces and nephews and many other relatives including great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Jones; and a half sister, Michele Petty.
Tim was a 1984 graduate of Piqua High School. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1984 to 1993. He worked for over 20 years at F&P America. He then worked security for Upper Valley Medical Center as well as for Key II Security at Country Concert for many years. Tim absolutely loved Country Concert and looked forward to working the event every year. One of his claims to fame was babysitting Faith Hill’s children while she was performing. He was awarded the Jan Mulder Citizenship Award for helping revive a neighbor during a heart attack. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time outdoors. He was an avid sports fan and followed the Dallas Cowboys, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Reds. He lived and breathed Piqua; especially Piqua High School Football and could be found at the games every Friday in the fall.
A service to honor his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at The Sanctuary Church, Piqua. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
