THOMAS A. HUFFMAN

Thomas A. “Tom” Huffman, 87, of Piqua, passed away at 2:28 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born December 7, 1936 to the late Orville L. and Agnes (Rein) Huffman, Sr. He married Rita I. Steinke June 28, 1958 in St. Boniface Catholic Church; and she survives.

Other survivors include four children, Keith Huffman of Troy, Lisa (Michael) Beasecker of Greenville, Vicki (James) Francis of Fletcher, Brenda (Thomas) Shaner of Piqua; fourteen grandchildren, Travis Huffman, Holliena Huffman-Young, Thomas Huffman, Tyler Huffman, Austin Jahnigen, Kaydan Phipps, Kody Lowe, Caleb Beasecker, Caitlin Beasecker, Amy Huffman, Ashley Huffman-Ramirez, Bryan Huffman, Julia Slock, Bryan Francis; 30 great grandchildren; three brothers, Orville (Eva) Huffman Jr. of Sidney, Lawrence (Melodie) Huffman of Covington, Douglas Huffman of Crown Point, Indiana; and six sisters, Patricia Stephan of Piqua, Nancy Dunn of Covington, Constance Wagner of Piqua, Melody Wise of Covington, Candice (Garry) Leapley of Sidney, and Jacqueline Kinnison of Sidney. He was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Jerome & Ellen Steinke; a daughter-in-law, Paula Huffman; a grand daughter, Krista Lowe; and five siblings; Ellen Brokaw, Jack Huffman, William Huffman, Deanna Brumbaugh, and Linda Boyer.

Mr. Huffman was a 1954 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He worked for many years for the former Copperweld Corporation before his retirement. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and tending to his beautiful vegetable gardens. He loved to play golf, especially at Echo Hills. He was proud to have hit five hole-in-one’s in his lifetime. Additionally, he enjoyed watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds that would frequent his garden and feeders. Mostly, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

A service to honor his life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
