Terresita E. “Terre” Bailey, 77, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 4:44 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023 at Stillwater Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was born February 3, 1946 in Piqua to the late Ralph and Myrtle (Bolden) Price. She married Jerry Michael Bailey January 2, 1993 in Piqua at the Cyrene AME Church, and he survives.
Other survivors include two sisters, Teresa Jean Olden of Troy, Debra Smith of Piqua; four grandchildren, Ryan O'Neal Walker II, Elise Walker, Alaini Walker, and Myles Walker; one great grandson; three nephews, Jeffrey (René) Olden, Jesse (Angie) Olden, and Britton (Sarah) Price; one step-son, Dwayne Bailey; also a host of other relatives and many friends. Terre was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Ryan O'Neal Walker.
Terre was a graduate of Piqua Central High School, Class of 1964. Not only was she the first black majorette at Piqua Central, she was also the first black head majorette as well. Terre was a longtime, faithful member of Cyrene AME Church, and was a Board member as Stewardess, and a former member of the choir. She worked as a receptionist at the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, and retired after 30 years of hard work and dedication. She was an avid runner/ walker and enjoyed attending sporting events. Her favorite sports team was the Oakland Raiders.
A service to honor her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Cyrene AME Church with Rev. Brenda Freeman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, also at the church. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
