 Tecla A. Kellar, 71, of Piqua, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Hospice Unit of Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born July 12, 1949 in Piqua to the late Charles W. and Mary (Marchi) Hirby. She married Charles R. Powell who preceded her in death in 2014. She then married Roland J. Kellar Jr. May 5, 2019 in Appleton, Wisconsin; and he survives.

 Other survivors include her step-mother, Dixie C. Gayheart Hirby of Lexington; step-children, Jason Kellar of Columbus, Holly Kellar of Anchorage, Alaska; six siblings, Steve (Pat Slaby) Hirby of Appleton, Wisconsin, John (Nancy Oakes) Hirby of Piqua, Larry (Donna Earona) Hamilton of Lexington, Lois (Michael) Crawford of Tipp City, Debra (Quentin) Short of McDowell, Kentucky, Wilma Hamilton Martin of Teaberry, Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend and Salon manager, Lita Brown of Piqua. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Thomas Hirby.

 Tecla successfully perpetuated the legacy and service of Salon Marchi and Day Spa which was founded by her mother in 1969. She was well versed and an instructor of Reiki and was a Reiki Master. She had the spiritual being and natural ability to bring a large community of individuals that embraced and benefited from her leadership and wisdom.  

 A time to honor her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue all day with a pot-luck reception on Monday, July 19, 2021 at the Houston Community Center. Arrangements are being handled through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tecla’s name are encouraged to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 325 W.
