SUSAN C. MIRACLE

Susan C. Miracle, 74, of Dayton, passed away unexpectedly at 5:54 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born July 3, 1948 in Piqua to the late Harry L. and Anna Marie (Wack) Christy.

Survivors include a son, Dan Miracle of Columbus; a sister, Katherine Bengston of San Diego, California; and three brothers, Gerald (Kathy) Christy of Piqua, John (Chris) Christy of Buckeye, Arizona, and Donald Christy of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Christy; and two brothers, Richard Christy, and Thomas Christy.

Sue was a 1966 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School then went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Miami of Ohio, and her Master’s of Education from Wright State University. She was a devout member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia as well at St. Boniface Catholic Church. She worked as a teacher for many years at Piqua Catholic, in Japan, Dayton area schools, and Studebaker Middle School where she retired. She was active with the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed reading, tracing genealogy, and collecting Santa Clauses. Sue also enjoyed giving back by volunteering at area food kitchens. She was a dedicated caretaker for her mother and later for her father until his death.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Rev. Fr. Robert Hale as the Celebrant. Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Daughters of the American Revolution, 1776 D Street NW, Washington DC, 20006.
