SUSAN KAY JESS

Susan Kay Jess, 72, of Piqua, went to be with her Lord at 6:19 a.m. Sunday, October 24, 2021 in the comfort of her home. She was born December 25, 1948 in Darke County to the late Paul and Leona (Shellhase) Oehrtman. She married George “Ed” Jess October 5, 1974; and he preceded her in death July 13, 2004.

Survivors include four daughters, Sarah Jess, Jennifer Remien, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, Megan Jess, Emma (Zane) Baumann, both of Piqua; four grandchildren, Audrey Remien, Preston Remien, Azalia Matthews, Vox Saunier; two sisters, Patricia (Doug) Crowell of Versailles, Nancy (Robert) Brown of Cody, Wyoming; a sister of her heart, Ellen (Jason) VanDyne; a brother from her heart, Lemuel Oehrtman; and her faithful cat Simone. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Mrs. Jess was a 1966 graduate of Versailles High School. She then graduated from the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing and Liberty University where she graduated with a degree in psychology. She worked various nursing jobs before working as the school nurse for over twenty-five years for Piqua City Schools. Susan was a lover of nature and enjoyed her flower gardens. She was a strong and faithful woman who never lost faith. She loved the Lord, her family, her friends, and her church.

A private service to honor her life will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
