STEVEN M. BUTT

Steven M. “Steve” Butt, 63, of Piqua, passed away unexpectedly at 7:21 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born July 5, 1960 in Piqua to the late Omer “Duane” and Beverly A. (Clemens) Butt. He married Gale Ganger June 27, 2012 in Latham, Ohio; and she survives.

Other survivors include five children, Steven Butt of Piqua, Skyler Butt of Piqua, Kimber (Chad McLaughlin) Brown of Piqua, Jeffery Ganger of Dallastown, Pennsylvania, Wyatt Brown of Memphis, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Aliyah, Lily, Amelia, Colten; six siblings, Chris Ratermann of Fort Loramie, Larry (Lisa) Butt of Piqua, Rob Butt of Pickerington, Karen (Ralph Patterson) Sudduth of Brookville, Theresa Perando of Kettering, Dave (Karen) Butt of Sidney; foster children he helped raise, C.J., Nia, Levi, Robert, Jessica, Lesta, Katie along with numerous nieces & nephews and great-nieces & great-nephews; and his beloved feline companion, Muggy. He was preceded in death by stepfathers, Vincent Caserta and Richard Peltier; and a sister, Kathy Butt.

Steve was a 1978 graduate of Lehman Catholic High School. He was a past member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He worked for Piqua Emory Foundry for 41 years and concluded his time at the foundry as a Foreman. He then worked for Kroger for the past few years. He enjoyed his bowling league, was a lover of animals, and was an avid baseball fan. He was a diehard fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State, and his beloved Cleveland Browns. As years went on, he became a fan of the University of Michigan due to his family connection and enjoyed cheering them on....as long as they weren't playing the Buckeyes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed making others happy and sharing in their happiness gave him great joy. He will be deeply missed.

A service to honor his life will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with his brother, Larry Butt officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami County Animal Shelter, 1100 N.
