Sondra Jayne “Soni” Liddy, 92, of Dayton, passed away peacefully at 11:36 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Ganzhorn Suites. She was born January 29, 1934 in Piqua to the late Albert and Alleen (Dunkle) Erhardt. She married Dr. Bernard J. Liddy September 4, 1954 in the St. Mary Catholic Church; and he preceded her in death November 30, 2017.
Survivors include four children, Teresa (Steve) Bauer of Dayton, Marcia (John) Meredith of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, Thomas Liddy of Portland, Oregon, Amy (David Smith) Liddy of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Samantha) Liddy, Kate Compton, Kristine (Ryan) Parke, Kayleigh (Casey) Jones, Nick (Skye) Meredith, Jake Nolan, Tyler (Ashtyn) Liddy, Andrea Meredith; nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Loris Saunders of Piqua. She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Knowles; an infant son, Mark; and a son, Matthew.
Mrs. Liddy was a 1951 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She devoted many years to serving as the office manager of her husband’s medical practice. Known for her warm and outgoing personality, she cherished time spent with family and friends and never missed an opportunity to socialize. She also found great joy in knitting, the sunshine, and seeing her children and grandchildren do the things they love. Above all, she loved her family deeply. We will always be grateful for her kindness, grace, perseverance and unwavering love and support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Jacob Schmiesing as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. A celebration of Soni's life will be held from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Crooked Handle Brewing Co. in Piqua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Central Ohio Chapter, P.O.
