Shirley J. Peepels, 86, of Piqua, passed away at 7:04 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Fair Haven Nursing Home. She was born October 20, 1937 in Piqua to the late Ermine and Mary (Greenbaum) Kindell. She married Robert J. Peepels June 15, 1957 in Piqua, a union that would span 54 years; and he preceded her in death February 1, 2011.
Survivors include a son, Bruce (Debbie) Peepels of Piqua; two grandchildren, Logan (Abby) Peepels, Ashley (Chance) Weldy; three great grandchildren, Adilynn, Adley, Olivia; four sisters, Miriam “Mitz” Foster, Annette “Net” Hawes, Judy Locker of Piqua, Linda (Roger Felix) Kindell, all of Piqua; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Patricia, Violet, Phyllis, Connie; and three brothers, Tom, Bob, and Bill.
Mrs. Peepels was a 1956 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She worked in the receiving department of Hobart P.M.I. for over 30 years before she retired. She attended Greenville Creek Christian Church. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #614, and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially if she was fishing or tending to her gardens. She was a genealogy enthusiast and enjoyed tracing her family lineage. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and looked forward to attending their many sporting events.
A service to honor her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Keith A. Gebhart officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
