Shirley A. Buchanan, 73 of Piqua, passed away at 11:23 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at her residence. She was born February 14, 1949 in Sidney to the late Orlando “Beano” and Mary (Latimer) Shaffner. She married Orville Buchanan February 15, 1969 in Sidney and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Todd Buchanan and Michael Buchanan both of Piqua; two grandchildren, Dylan (Renee) Buchanan, and Kyra (Nate Thompson) Buchanan; three great grandchildren, Aiden, Ryker, and Bexley; and her sister, Linda (Paul) Gray of Barbourville, Kentucky.
Mrs. Buchanan was a graduate of Hardin Houston High School Class of 1967. She retired after 25 years of service working in the cafeteria of most all of the schools in the Piqua City School district. Shirley was a member of the Auxillary at the former Eagles in Piqua for many years. She and her husband enjoyed going camping and stayed at the Lazy R Campground for about 10 years. After Shirley retired, she and Orville took a trip to Hawaii to celebrate and she enjoyed every minute of the trip. Shirley enjoyed making meals for her family, and keeping in contact with friends and family on Facebook and through phone messages. She loved to spoil her grandkids and great grandkids, and she will surely be missed by all who loved her.
A service to honor her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Johnny Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow the services at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral home.
