SHERIAN VILLERS Obituary

Sherian Stafford Villers, 73 years of age, and a resident of Piqua, OH, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at her home, in the arms of her sweetheart of 51 years, John Franklin Villers, following a sudden illness.

Sherry was born January 16, 1951, in Huntington, WV, and moved to Lorain, OH, as a young girl. She was a member of the class of 1969 at Marion L. Steele High School before graduating with the class of 1973 with her Bachelor’s from Bowling Green State University. She then moved to Piqua, OH where she built her family and made her home.

Sherry said her greatest accomplishments were her marriage and her 3 daughters. She also loved her work with ABLE and EvenStart to help adults earn their GEDs and start a new life from which they’d previously given up hope. She won several awards with her work in the Social Security Administration, from where she retired in 2012.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was in lifelong service of her community and congregation. She shared she was extremely proud of her service to the Young Women and the Relief Society.  She believed in eternal families and knows they will all be together forever.

Sherry enjoyed cheering on her daughters in their careers, craft shows, and performances, as well as her grandchildren in their sporting events and recitals. The hobby that brought her and those around her endless fun was sewing- from quilting to embroidering to creating anything that came to mind.  She found daily joy spending time with her sweetheart, John, doing anything and everything, and particularly loved cruising together. In reading her writings, it is easy to see that all of Sherry’s best memories involved laughing and loving with your whole heart.

When asked, what advice she would give in life, she answered:

“The mantra - ‘If it is to be, it is up to me.’ If you are going to do something, do it right, do your best, and do it all. Keep yourselves honest. Love your family and the Lord.  Be good workers to be proud of yourselves. Show love for your parents.  We will always love you unconditionally.”
