Rosella K. “Rosie” Derr, 78, of Versailles, passed away at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2024 in her home. She was born January 3, 1946 in Peoria, Illinois to the late Gilford and Helen (Cottrell) Cowhick. She married Harry “Dean” Derr September 17, 1967 in Covington; and he survives.
Other survivors include two children, Chris (Paula) Derr of Greenville, Missy (Randy) Christian of Bradford; five grandchildren, Allie (Addison) Miller, Caleb Christian, Sage Christian, Raeanne Derr, Taylor (Austin) Traenkle; a great grandson, Crew; and two great granddaughters, Ellie, Emrie. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Christian.
Rosie was a 1964 graduate of Covington High School. She worked for many years at John’s I.G.A. before her retirement. During her retirement, she enjoyed providing house cleaning services for many homes in the area, as well as the Versailles Post Office and the local State Farm office. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her yard, camping and fishing with her family, and following her grandchildren to sporting events. She loved to take trips with her girlfriends, as well as spend time with her family and her grandchildren. Additionally, she was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley. She was a loving wife and mother and was a dedicated grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
A service to honor her life will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church (204 E. Wood St. Versailles, OH 45380) with Pastor Michael Althauser officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be made to Versailles Emergency Services, P.O. Box 109 Versailles, OH 45380 or to Dayton Children’s Hospital, 1 Children’s Plaza, Dayton, OH 45404.
