Rodney G. Young, 87, of Piqua, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2024 at Garbry Ridge Assisted Living. He was born November 4, 1936 in Brookville, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Bertha (Hofer) Young. He married Daryla D. Fuller; and she survives.
Other survivors include two children, Cindy (James) Young-Turner of Burtonsville, Maryland, Matthew (Eron) Young of Pawlet, Vermont; and two grandchildren, Audrey Turner, Azalea Young. He was preceded in death by a brother, Randell Young; and a sister-in-law, Donna Young.
Rod was a 1955 Graduate of College Corner High School. He graduated from Earlham College, and then went on to earn a Masters Degree in Physics from the University of Tennessee. He worked for many years as a physicist for the United States Air Force. He enjoyed his involvement with Miami County Genealogy and the Historical Society where he served as the President for two years. He was active for many years as a Board member for the City of Piqua Energy Board. He was also a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church.
A service to honor his life will be held at a later date at the Bethel United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2505 E. Loy Rd. Piqua, OH 45356.
