Robert S. "Butch" Shearer, 81, of Piqua, passed away at 11:49 a.m. Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born July 13, 1942 in Troy to the late Ralph and Virginia (Mayse) Shearer. He married Sharon (Foster) Shearer August 4, 1962 in Piqua and she preceded him in death July 23, 2010.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff (Rick Toerner) Shearer of Cincinnati, and Keith (Tracy) Shearer of Piqua; one grandson, Nathan (Ashley) Shearer; two great grandchildren, Allison and Natalie; his significant other, Lois Burkhalter; one brother, John Shearer, and his sister, Dee Gyori; also many other relatives and friends. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, Edward Shearer.
Butch was a graduate of Piqua Central High School Class of 1960. He worked in construction his whole life and also retired from the Piqua Fire Department. He loved to go fishing, and was a member of the Miami Valley Bass Masters. He looked forward to taking the boat up for yearly fishing trips on Lake Erie with his son, Keith. Butch and Lois liked to take trips to the casino and go out to eat at their favorite restaurants in their free time. He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services for Butch will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, 3230 N.
