Robert E. Herron, 82, of Covington, passed away peacefully at 4:10 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2026 in the comfort of his home. He was born September 20, 1943 in Piqua to the late Stanley and Alma (Gump) Herron. He married Shirley K. Stager November 30, 1963 in Bradford; a beautiful union that would span 52 years, and she preceded him in death December 1, 2015.
Survivors include four children, Kimberly Herron of Bradford, Bobby (Darla) Herron of Piqua, Melissa (Kirt) Shepard of Piqua, Tracey (Tommy) Pullins of Bradford; ten grandchildren, Krystal (Matt) Robinson, Josh Shirk, Deryl Shirk, Kyle Alcorn, Ethan (Cedar) Herron, Stanley “Ryan” Herron, Kelsey Herron, Matt (Katrina) Herron, Megan (Derek) Franck, T.J. (Kelli) Pullins; 24 great grandchildren, one of which is currently serving in the United States Air Force; and a sister-in-law, Goldie Herron of Piqua. He was preceded in death by four brothers, David, Jerry, Dick, Dan; two sisters, Diana Lindsey, Joan Herron; and a great granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Shirk.
Bob attended Bradford High School and went on to work for many years as a dedicated toolmaker with Electroform, from which he later retired. He had a deep appreciation for farming, enjoying both livestock and crop work. In his free time, he loved to travel, especially to Tennessee, and cherished any opportunity to be near the beach. Bob had a great love for music and treasured the time he spent with his family. He will be remembered most for his incredible sense of humor, which he maintained until the very end. His presence brought joy to those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A service to honor his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity in Bob’s memory.
