ROBERT J. "BOB" JONES

Robert “Bob” Jones, 70 of Piqua, passed away unexpectedly at 11:36 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2022 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1952 in Troy to the late Edwin and Sarah Jane (Dugan) Jones. He married Cheryl Hammons March 9, 1991 in Las Vegas and she survives.

Other survivors include four children, Laura (Dave) Davie of Fletcher, Casey Jones of Piqua, Jennie (Matt) Leininger of Cincinnati, and Lisa (Jeff) Ott of Troy; three grandchildren, Zachary, Kiley, and Katie; and his brother, Dave Jones of Piqua. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother in law, Diane (David) Hufford; and his sister in law, Evelyn Jones.

Bob was the President of Dick’s Paint & Body Shop for over 35 years. Bob truly appreciated every customer, and peer in the body shop industry, that put their trust into him. He worked tirelessly to provide excellent service to all, and make sure their best interests were in mind. His love of cars and helping people met seamlessly, where Bob enjoyed all types of racing and was quick to sponsor many sport’s teams and racers throughout the years. Another of Bob’s passions was helping to take care of the Veteran’s Memorial in town, where he devoted many loving hours to make sure it was a special and reverent place for the honored veterans and it’s visitors. Bob and Cheryl enjoyed taking trips and finding all the hidden, interesting spots along the way. He was an early bird, and had an appreciation for nature; he loved to spend the morning admiring the sunrise and then the sunsets in the evenings. Above all else, Bob loved his family and friends. He was quick to lend a hand to anyone, he mowed most of his family’s yards just because, and anything else that someone needed help with he was there. Bob would randomly send friends and family old pictures he had of them, and that little gesture was so special to them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A service to honor his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Dennie Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022 at the funeral home.
