Robert D. Bennett III, 75, of Troy, passed away unexpectedly at 8:01 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2023. He was born May 22, 1947 in Sidney, New York to the late Robert D. and Phyllis E. (Lanard) Bennett II.
He is survived by two sisters, LeeAnn (Cary) Hines of West Chester and Tina Nees of Piqua; four nieces and nephews, J.C. Nees, Charlene Hadjis, Jackson and Lauren Hines; two great nieces/nephews, Ava and Branden Hadjis; and his sister in law, Violet Bennett of St. Augustine, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phil Bennett; and his brother in law, John Nees.
Rob was attending Bowling Green State University when he was called to serve in the United States Army in Vietnam. When he returned home, he worked for Hobart taking care of customer accounts. Rob was on the Army Track Team as a Pole Vaulter, and always enjoyed reading and writing. In the 1980’s Rob had three Action Genre books published. Recently, he still liked to write and also enjoyed painting.
