Richard T. "Rick" Rannells, 59, of Piqua, passed away at 4:35 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2023 at Ohio's Hospice of Miami County. He was born December 3, 1963 in Madison, Wisconsin. His parents are Thomas & Joanne Rannells of Portland, Oregon and Jean Saul & Carla Ficke of Denver, Colorado. He married Rose (Akers) Rannells November 7, 1997 in Piqua and she survives.
Other survivors include four children, Misty Reier of Monrovia, Indiana, Jacob Williamson & Jennifer Hale of Piqua, Matthew Williamson of Piqua, and Heather & Jeff Kaufman of Deforest, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Azen Reier, Kaeden Reier & Kaylor Fitzwater, Tatum Penny, Karma Williamson, Tristin Kaufman, Zayden Williamson, and Ivy Rose Williamson; three siblings, John Rannells of Findlay, Katie Etienne of Denver, Colorado, and Isaac Costello of Madison, Wisconsin; also many other relatives and friends.
Rick was a graduate of Madison East High School Class of 1982. He faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps. As a Veteran and a motorcycle enthusiast, Rick served with the Patriot Guard Riders and helped to honor his fallen brothers and sisters and escort them to their place of rest on his motorcycle. For fun, Rick loved working on and playing games on the computer, he enjoyed completing woodworking projects around the house, gardening, traveling, and going to the Renaissance Festival with family and friends. He loved to cook, and took great pride in preparing a loved one’s favorite meal to make them feel special. Rick loved his family and simply adored his grandchildren. Above all else, Rose was his world and he made sure every day that she was taken care of. He will truly be missed by all who loved him.
A service to honor his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Chaplain Teresa McClennon officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad and the Patriot Guard Riders. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patriot Guard Riders of Ohio or to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County.
