Ralph W. Ward, 79, of Piqua, passed away at 10:12 a.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025 in the comfort of his home. He was born May 28, 1945 in Piqua to the late Rodney and Jeanette (Pellman) Ward. He married Edna M. Meiring October 8, 1968 in Winchester, Indiana; and she survives.
Other survivors include three children, Robert Ward of Sidney, Lisa (Rick) Cotrell of Troy, Christina Bray of Piqua; eight grandchildren, Trey Cotrell, Alexandrea “Ally” Cotrell, Briana Ward, Paige Bray, Tyler Ward, James Evans, Felisha Mitchell, Chas Smith; seven great grandchildren, Mia, Addison, Kailyn, Nova, Keaton, Kason, Kashton; and a sister, Viola Ault.
Mr. Ward was a 1964 graduate of Piqua Central High School and became a journeyman with IBEW Local 82 in Dayton in 1973. He worked for many years as an electrician through IBEW Local 82 before his retirement. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed attending car shows, working and tinkering on cars, as well as racing and participating in demolition derbies. He was a jack of all trades and could fix, maintain, and remodel anything. He enjoyed attending flea markets and auctions. He was a long time member of Calvary Chapel in Minster, then in Piqua and later Central Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, drove and maintained the Sunday School buses and was influential in the restructure and name change during that time. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.
A service to honor his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity in Ralph’s name.
