Patricia A. Mader, 87, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 8:50 a.m. Monday, October 06, 2025 at Hospice of Miami County. She was born December 15, 1937 in Ada to the late Emerson Firestone and the late Kathryn (Nonnamaker) Merritt. She married John W. Mader December 3, 1955 in Piqua; and he preceded her in death August 30, 2009.
Survivors include a son, Doug Mader of Troy; two daughters, Deb Christy of Snellville, Georgia, Diana (Mark Fussnecker) Perkins of Kettering; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Brianne Larkin) Christy, Brad (Ashley) Perkins, Sean (Breanna) Christy, Matt (Brittany Heulskamp) Perkins, Cory (Becky) Perkins, Casey Perkins, Aaron Perkins, Erica (Brent) Cummings; seventeen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a brother, Max (Cindy) Merritt of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Firestone; her stepfather, Raymond Merritt; and two sons-in-law, Rick Christy, and John Perkins.
Mrs. Mader attended Piqua Central High School. She worked for many years as a cook in the Piqua School System as well as a cook with the former Fraternal Order of Eagles Aries 614 in Piqua. In her younger years she was active with 4-H and the Boy Scouts of America. She was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was a devoted grandmother that enjoyed traveling along to any and all of her grandkids activities.
A service to honor her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Justice officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
