Otis R. Cullip, Jr., 64, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2024 in the comfort of his home. He was born June 18, 1959 in Dayton to the late Otis R. and Mary A. (Sharp) Cullip, Sr. He married Mary E. Pawloski June 12, 2003 in Concord, New Hampshire; and she survives.
Other survivors include a stepson, Jesse (Magen) Gade of Piqua; three grandchildren, Tyler (Elaine) Gade, Bella Gade, Brinlee Gade; his Aunt Sue Cartwright of Springfield, and his Aunt Betty Foust of Fairborn. He is also survived by his closest friends; the Motorcycle Guys who were truly his family. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his Uncle Earl Cartwright; and many dear friends and fellow riders.
Otis was a 1977 graduate of Piqua Central High School and the Joint Vocational School. He worked and had retired from the City of Piqua Water Department following twenty-three years of service. He also served as the President for the American Federation of State, County, & Municipal Employees Local 948. Otis had a true passion for all things motorcycles. He was an active rider since the age of 13 and over the years learned all the in’s and out’s of bikes. He could tear down and rebuild any bike or engine. He had owned and ridden numerous motorcycles over the years and had recently fallen in love with Indian Motorcycles. Additionally, he loved his grandson and his granddaughters deeply and cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and cared for him.
A gathering of family and friends to honor his life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, Inc. 3230 N. County Rd. 25A, Troy, OH 45373.
