Orville Shoopman, Jr., 77, of Piqua, passed away at 7:19 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024 at Hospice of Miami County. He was born December 30, 1946 in Stearns, Kentucky to the late Orville and Bessie (Murphy) Shoopman, Sr. He married Susan Coffey November 28, 1971 in Whitley City, Kentucky; and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Jeffery (Rebekah) Shoopman of Sidney; two grandsons, Tyler Shoopman, Asher Shoopman; a brother Roy Shoopman of DeGraff; and two sisters, Viola Freeman of Frankfurt, Kentucky, Linda (Freddie) Hill of Stearns, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Shoopman, Ed Shoopman; and two sisters, Mildred Foster, and Vonda Shoopman.
Mr. Shoopman was a 1966 graduate of McCreary County High School in Stearns, Kentucky. He served proudly in the United States Army in Vietnam where he was awarded a Bronze Star. He worked as a fabricator for Hartzell Fan for 26 years before he retired. He enjoyed fishing and playing baseball and softball. He loved his grandsons and cherished the time he spent with them.
A graveside service to honor his life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney with Rev. Dr. Keith A. Gebhart officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, Inc. 3230 N. County Rd. 25A. Troy, OH 45373.
