Orphia B. Rose, 94, of Piqua, joined her Lord and Savior at 3:48 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2022. She was born March 29, 1927 in Vortex, Kentucky to the late Grover and Cella (Harris) Patton. She married Reverend James L. Rose August 28, 1946 in Winchester, Kentucky, a marriage that would span over 75 years; he preceded her in death September 9, 2021.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon L. (Bruce) Marcum of Woodland, California, Shirley A. (Robert “Bob”) Villaire of Prescott, Arizona; one son, Charlie “Buster” Rose of Piqua; two grandchildren, Jamie (Josh) Boone of Woodland, California, Jenna (Nathan) Washatka of Cincinnati; six great grandchildren, Modi, Beatrix and Pippin Boone, Eliza, Harriet and Thomas Washatka; and two brothers, Chum (Judy) Patton and James (Monell) Patton all of Campton, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Rausie Stamper of West Carrollton. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kay Hudnall, a brother and three sisters.
Mrs. Rose was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She supported the ministry of her husband, Jim. As a wonderful homemaker, she will be remembered for her knitting, embroidery, crocheting and fantastic cooking and baking.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Clark County with Pastor Donald Curtis officiating. Arrangements are handled through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Orphia’s name are suggested to Moraine City First Church of God, 5867 N.
