Norma J. Spain, 87, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 12:18 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at her home. She was born March 5, 1938 in Conover to the late Edward and Thetis (Deal) Scamahorn.
Norma is survived by five children, Bill (Barb) Jennings of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Kimberly (Jimmie) Jones of Covington, Doug (Keshia Thompson) Jennings of Piqua, Rose (Jeff) Hogue of Crestwood, Kentucky, and Jeff Jennings of Piqua; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Caroline Hogue of Tipp City; also many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter in law, Dawn Jennings; three siblings, Bruce Scamahorn, Dorothy Hartzell, and Mary Lou Besecker; and her brother in law, Jim Hogue.
Norma was a skilled seamstress for most of her life and worked at Allen-A, Troy Sunshade, and also at Hobart Corporation. She was quite crafty, and could create or fix anything with her sewing machine and embroidery skills, and also enjoyed making ceramics. Norma enjoyed completing puzzles, and doing Sudoku, she enjoyed plants and gardening, and was a wonderful cook. She made most everything from scratch, and her most popular meals were her cabbage rolls, soup and beans, fried chicken, homemade noodles and pies. She will be remembered for her cleverness and wisdom, and her adoration of her grandchildren. She cherished every moment she was able to spend with her family, and she will truly be missed.
A service to honor her life will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being handled through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
