Nancy J. Mulder, 84, formerly of Piqua, more recently of Columbus, passed away with her family at her side on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 in the comfort of her home. She was born on July 6, 1941, in Cincinnati, to the late Neoma Lacey. She was preceded in death by her husband Jan Mulder II, who was a Piqua police officer killed in the line of duty Aug. 11, 1970. Nancy married Frank Levering May 28, 1994; a union that would span 31 years and he survives.
Other survivors include four children Titia Mulder of St. Louis, Missouri, Jan Mulder III of Ohio, Judy (Jimmy) Palermo of Indianapolis, Indiana, Andries Mulder of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren Carmen, Anthony, Mario, Jan, Amber, Neoma; a brother, Harry Lacey of Texas; and a sister, Sarah Mae Lacey of Michigan.
Nancy was a warrior for the cause of never giving up. As a 20-something young woman, she raised four young children on her own after the death of her loving husband, Jan Mulder II. During that time, she managed to continue her education at Edison Community College and Wright State University. Her career touched countless lives having worked in rehabilitation and home healthcare for many years including Upper Valley Medical Center and Stouder Hospital. A fierce friend, Nancy was known for helping others even when she did not have a lot herself. She was kind, giving, and a lover of all manner of books. She once owned a bookstore in Sidney and was an avid reader her entire life.
A service to honor her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy and Jan’s names to C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) P.O.
