Nancy A. (Schlotterbeck) Congdon, 82, of Piqua, passed away unexpectedly at 8:53 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Kettering Health of Troy. She was born February 24, 1942 in Dayton to the late John Ray and Minta Ann (Haney) Schlotterbeck, Sr. She married Harry W. Congdon February 27, 1960 in Greenup, Kentucky; and he survives.
Other survivors include a son, James (Debbie) Congdon of Piqua; a daughter, Joyce Ann (Steve) Bell of Okeechobee, Florida; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley (Bradley) Tamplin of Piqua. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Ray Schlotterbeck, Jr.
Mrs. Congdon was a 1960 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She was a devout member of House on the Rock Fellowship. She worked as a librarian and teacher’s aide for Piqua City Schools for more than 30 years. Nancy was unwavering in her faith and shared her knowledge and love of Jesus with many over the years, but none more important than the children in her Sunday School classes she taught for 30 years. She enjoyed staying active and involved with her church and the children’s ministry. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed helping others. She will be remembered for her loving, caring, and compassionate nature toward others. She adored her grandchildren and would bend over backward for them. She will be deeply missed.
A service to honor her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Hickernell officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
