Myrtle E. Bauman Hayes, 103, of Piqua, passed away at 2:06 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Grandview Medical Center. She was born August 5, 1920 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Terry and Mahala (Wilson) Dodson. She married William E. Bauman, Sr. who preceded her in death December 12, 1973. She then married Elden W. Hayes November 27, 1974; and he preceded her in death December 9, 2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula (Jay Atkins) Taylor of Piqua; a daughter-in-law who Myrtle treated as her own daughter, Peggy Bauman; two stepdaughters, Pat Ross, Karen Moore both of Piqua; a stepson, Don Hayes of New Orleans, Louisiana; and numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Jerry Andress, Bob Andress, Bill Bauman; two brothers, Marshall Dodson, Terry Dodson, Jr; and two sisters, Mattie Hickman, and Marie Sheets.
Mrs. Hayes attended Piqua Central High School after moving to the Piqua area from Indiana. She worked for Industry Products for many years. She enjoyed working on ceramics and loved to watch and shop from QVC. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
A service to honor her life will begin at 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Kris Geise officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
