Michael L. Bernard, 70, of Piqua, passed away unexpectedly at 6:07 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born July 20, 1955 in St. Marys to the late Stanley E. and Adelle M. (Meyer) Bernard. He married Susan E. Reed October 11, 1980 in Piqua; and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Matt (Brandi) Bernard of Troy; ten grandchildren, Dylan (Andi), Braxton, Colby, Tyler, Breeze, Major, Micah, Madisyn, Mariah, Mavaya; a brother, John “Jack” (Susan) Bernard of Milford; and a sister, Sandra (Larry Warner) Black of Piqua. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Bernard; a brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Black; and a stepson whom he raised as his own from the age of 3, Brian Cary.
Mr. Bernard was a graduate of Lehman Catholic High School and the I.T.T. Technical Institute. He worked as a construction project manager for Wenco and had retired in 2022. He was a past member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He served on the Board of Directors for the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent his time fishing, trapshooting, and target shooting. He was a fan of auto racing and followed NASCAR and NHRA Racing. Additionally, he was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes. Most importantly, he adored his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them.
A service to honor his life will begin at 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Stremmel officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. In honor of Michael’s love for his beloved Buckeyes, visitors are encouraged to wear Ohio State apparel and team colors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O.
