Mary L. Mills, 90, of Piqua, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County. She was born January 30, 1933 in Covington to the late Charles and Ruth (Bodenmiller) Mutzner. She married James Mills December 28, 1979 in Dayton; and he preceded her in death March 23, 1998.
Survivors include two children, Doug (Linda) DeWeese of Piqua, and Ellen (John) Knudsen of New York City, New York; three step-children, Terry (Judy) Mills of Arcanum, Diane (Neal) Hans of Arcanum, Cheryl Hepner of Piqua; two grandchildren, Kevin (Hillary) DeWeese, Brad (Kim) DeWeese; five great grandchildren; eight step grandchildren, Randy (Shari) Hepner, Mindy (John) Trick, James (Jamey) Hepner, Michelle (Christopher) Wehner, Jason (Jenni) Hans, Angie Purdy, Amy (Bryan) Wade, Jeremy (Emilee) Mills; 22 step great grandchildren; two step great great grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Mutzner of Piqua; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Mutzner; a sister-in-law Suzanne Mutzner; her former husband, Paul DeWeese; and her step son-in-law, Dave Hepner.
Mary was a graduate of Covington High School Class of 1951. She was a longtime faithful member of The United Methodist Church with membership at Bethel United Methodist Church, Piqua, Faith United Methodist Church, Arcanum and Grace United Methodist Church, Piqua. She was previously involved with the Good Neighbors Farm Bureau Council and the Sheepskin Community Club. Most of all, Mary was a wonderful homemaker, loved taking care of her family, and always cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family.
A service to honor her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Jordan McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
