MARY ANN FICKENWIRTH

Mary Ann Fickenwirth, 81, of Piqua, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2026 at Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late A. Eugene and Virginia Ann (Hudnet) Stoner. She married Larry Fickenwirth April 6, 1974 in Piqua, and he survives.

Mary Ann is also survived by her son, Jeff (Qiana) Fickenwirth of Troy; two siblings, Bill (Jill) Stoner of Ada, and Linda (Jim) Wertz of South Carolina; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mary Ann was a graduate of Versailles High School, Class of 1962 and earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Miami University in 1968. She taught the Elementary grades for many years at Washington, Nicklin, and Springcreek Schools, and retired in 2005. Mary Ann was very active with Piqua Baptist Church and Lena Baptist Church, and loved her church families. She was also called to serve others as a member of The Gideons International Auxiliary, and with the Piqua Compassion Network and Circles of Hope. Mary Ann loved shaping children through teaching, was a lover of music and had never met a stranger. She will surely be missed by all who loved her.

A service to honor her life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Edward Sollenberger officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, also at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
