MARTHA SELLE Obituary

Martha Jean Selle, 75, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 2:12 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She was born August 18, 1950 in Troy to the late John Paul and Jean (Christy) DeBrosse. She married John A. "Jack" Selle August 22, 1970, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Piqua, and he survives.

Martha is also survived by her daughter, Cindy (Scott) Cutcher of Columbia, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Lydia and Spencer; three siblings, Patrick (Susan) DeBrosse, Dennis DeBrosse, and Shirley (Donald) Kuchta, all of Piqua; two brothers in law, Ron (Angie) Monroe of Piqua, and Mark (Lori) Monroe of Somerset, Kentucky; also the friends that became family at Bob Evans in Troy, and the Harris family; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John E. DeBrosse; and her sister in law, Diane DeBrosse.

Martha was a graduate of Piqua Catholic High School, Class of 1968. She was a longtime, faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Martha worked as an IT Specialist for Hartzell in their main office and their hardwood division, with over 25 years of hard work and dedication. She also worked at Custom Aerosol Packaging and other similar jobs as an IT Contractor. Martha was a Girl Scout growing up, and earned the very uncommon Marianist Badge for her Catholic faith. In her adult years, she enjoyed being a Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts and was able to pass along her knowledge onto the younger generation. Once life slowed down for Martha and Jack, they loved to travel the area in their 1932 Ford or on their motorcycles. One of their favorite pastimes was traveling to car shows, and furthering her wonderful collection of M&Ms and Coca Cola Memorabilia. Martha was a fantastic wife, mother, grandmother, and a strong and stoic sister to her siblings when they needed help or encouragement. She was a Breast Cancer Survivor of over 40 years, when treatments were rough and not as medically advanced as today. She has been an inspiration to so many going through the same trials she went through. She will surely be missed by all who loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Charles Hall as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
