MARTHA ELIZABETH PARSON

Martha Elizabeth Parson, 89, of Piqua, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023 at her residence. She was born January 23, 1933 in Hardy, Kentucky to the late Bailey and Audrey (West) Laxton. She married Charles Wesley Parson and he preceded her in death September 7, 2004.

Survivors include four children, Deborah Krach of Piqua, David (Dorcas) Parson of Franklin, Indiana, Darryl (Don Juan Jones) Parson of Dayton, and Karen (Sam) Jenkins of Piqua; four grandchildren, Chad Jenkins of Anna, Christopher (Amanda) Parson of Franklin, Indiana, Amy Parson-Koons of Franklin, Indiana, and Alan/Allison Parson of Canada; seven great grandchildren, Bryce Jenkins, Connor Jenkins, Jane Koons, Graham Koons, Benjamin Koons, Patrick Koons, and Rhysand Parson; one brother, James (Imogene) Laxton of Robbins, Tennessee; also many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Kathryn and Merry Jo Parson; her son in law, Frank Krach;  two sisters, Ann (George) Cross of Oneida, Tennessee, and Irene Cross-Robbins of Indiana.

Mrs. Parson loved working as a Certified Nurse's Assistant in Cardiac Care at Piqua Memorial Hospital for many years before becoming a proud homemaker. Martha was a skilled seamstress, and also enjoyed crocheting, reading, tending to her garden and canning in her free time. She loved dogs, and also enjoyed traveling all over the country with her husband and children. Family was most important to Martha, and she truly loved taking care of others and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A service to honor her life will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
