She was born January 24, 1939 in Piqua to the late Cletus and Catherine (Groff) Francis. She married John C. Weigel, Sr. September 15, 1956 at St. Boniface Catholic Church and he preceded her in death August 10, 2020.

Survivors include four children, Malinda "Lynn" (Jim) Williams, John C. Weigel, Jr., Greg Weigel, and Mark (Jessica) Weigel, all of Piqua; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four siblings, Tom (Annette) Francis of Newport, Ann (Tom) Koehl of Piqua, Cathy Francis of Columbus, and Jackie (Mike) Dunson of Sidney; two sisters in law, Sharon Francis of Piqua, and Shirley Francis of New Carlisle; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Matt Weigel; and two brothers, Joe Francis and Pat Francis.

Marlene attended Piqua Catholic High School, and was a longtime, faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time at St. Clare Chapel for Eucharistic Adoration as well. Marlene loved to go camping at various lakes and campgrounds but especially at Duck Foot Landing at Lake St. Mary's. She was a fantastic cook, especially when she was making cabbage rolls, meatloaf, and potato salad. She enjoyed growing roses at her home, watching the birds on the bird feeders, listening to country music, and watching Dr. Pol and game shows. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she will surely be missed.
