Marion E. Shellabarger, 89, of Piqua, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, January 11, 2026 at Ohio's Hospice of Miami County, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 26, 1936 in Miami County to the late Byron and Bonita (Parsons) Shellabarger. He married Sylvia (Rose) Shellabarger on May 19, 1956 in Covington, Kentucky, and she survives.
Marion is also survived by four sons, Roger (Toni) Shellabarger of Greenville, Michael (Tammy) Shellabarger of Port Charlotte, Florida, Steven Shellabarger of Piqua, and Ryan (Ceridwen "C.C.") Shellabarger of Piqua; 13 grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Shellabarger, Jeremy Shellabarger, Aubrey (Tom) Romano, Whitney (Chris) Hauser, Katelyn (RJ) Hildebrandt, Andrew Shellabarger, Evanne (Matt) Albright, Josh Shellabarger, Jordan (Jessica) Shellabarger, Harrison Stine, Jared (August Evans) Shellabarger, Hannah Stine, and Jenna Shellabarger; 15 great grandchildren, Cayden, Keegan, Elle, Graham, Mac, Greyson, Dominic, Hallie, Phoenix, Harper, Owen, Hadleigh, Oakleigh, Eden, and Daisy; two siblings, Don (Christina) Shellabarger of Gettysburg, and LeAnn (David) Nimphie of Branson, Missouri; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant twin sisters; and his daughter in law, Luisa Shellabarger.
Marion was a graduate of Monroe High School in Preble County, Class of 1954. He went on to work as an Industrial Engineer for Textron in Greenville for 25 years, he worked at Hartzell Propeller for 10 years, and then loved to teach adult education at the Upper Valley Career Center for 15 years. He volunteered for the Greenville Auxiliary Police Department for 21 years and enjoyed assisting his community. Marion liked to work outside in the yard, making sure the lawn was neat and tidy. Marion previously collected coins, and was a founding member of the Darke County Coin Collector Club. Marion was a longtime, faithful member of Troy Christian Church, and he served as an Elder of the church as well. His relationship with the Lord and caring for his family were most important to him.
A service to honor his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at Troy Christian Church with Pastor Chris Heiss officiating. Burial will be held privately for the family at Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, and also from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, at Troy Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Troy Christian Church Mission Fund, Ohio's Hospice of Miami County, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
