Margaret L. “Peggy” Casey-Luby, 86, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Hospice of Miami County. She was born February 21, 1937 in Bexley, Ohio to the late John Tappe Casey and Frances (Bauman) Veit. She married James “Jim” Schnippel October 22, 1960; and he preceded her in death February 11, 1994. She married Robert J. Luby March 9, 2001 in Piqua; and he preceded her in death February 19, 2021.
Survivors include three daughters, Julie (Scott) Rasor, Cynthia (Barry) Gertner, Melissa Brinkman, all of Piqua; nine grandchildren, Kyle Rasor, Megan (Brad) Valentine, Logan (Emily) Rasor, Taylor Gertner, Peyton (Chris) Trammell, Noah Gertner, Morgan Brinkman, Madison Brinkman, Molly Brinkman; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepfather, Harold B. Veit; a sister, Mary “Jean” Cable; and a son-in-law, Thomas Brinkman.
Peggy was a 1955 graduate of Sidney High School. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church as well as a member of Greene Street United Methodist Church. She worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation as a secretary for 8 years before transitioning her career to the Piqua City Schools where she worked as a secretary for over 26 years before her retirement. She was an avid and talented Bridge player and enjoyed her various bridge clubs; as well as her Women’s Golf League at Echo Hills Golf Course and her bowling leagues. She was an avid reader, loved to travel and always looked forward to any opportunity to entertain in her home. Most importantly, she absolutely adored her grandchildren and always found ways to make her visits with them special, especially her granddaughters, with her home spun spa days and manicures. She was a hardworking and dedicated mother and grandmother who had an undying love for her family. She will be deeply missed.
A service to honor her life will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Isaiah Callan officiating. Private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:30-12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
