Margaret “Joan” Johnson, 89, of Piqua was welcomed into Heaven at 8:52 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She waited until each of her children and grandchildren had come by to see her one last time. She was born March 30, 1932 in Pleasant Hill to the late Harold “Bounce” and Dorothy (Lowry) Kinnison. She married Joseph A. Johnson December 18, 1951 in Pleasant Hill; and he preceded her in death August 8, 2009.
Survivors include four daughters, Dawn (Jim Collins) Shetterly of Sidney, Cindy (Mark) Johnson Jones of Troy, Lisa (Al) Jacomet of Piqua, and Amy Jo Johnson of Piqua; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Phillips, Ami (Malcom) Edge, Christy (Jim Rego) Decker, David (Amanda) Potchik, Jessica Jacomet-Payton, Jon (Melissa) Jacomet, Amanda (Cortland) Martin, Quentin Achor, Hannah Latimer, and Jenny (Bill Hoyer) Jones; thirty great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Susie Johnson of Tipp City, Diana McConnaughey of Holdrege, Nebraska; and one brother, Gary Kinnison of Bradford. She was preceded in death by one sister, Sonja Baker; one grandson, Michael Shetterly; and one great granddaughter, Paisley Young
Mrs. Johnson was a 1950 graduate of Newton High School. She worked as a system technician for Sonoco Products for over twenty years before she retired. She loved to work and enjoyed the time and people at Sonoco. She was a past member of Ginghamsburg Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, bird watching and was an animal lover. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her homemade chicken and noodles and her famous potato soup. She was a kindhearted woman who didn’t know a stranger. She will be deeply missed by her loving family.
A gathering of family and friends to honor her life will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
