MARGARET F. "CORKY" ATTENWEILER

Margaret F. "Corky" Attenweiler, 94, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 1:57 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Ayden Healthcare of Piqua. She was born May 28, 1926, in Turtle Creek Township to the late Cecil F. McCorkle and Agnes (Wright) McCorkle Nawman.

Survivors include a grandson, Jason Attenweiler of Holly, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Jayne McKelvey of Bryan; brothers, Calvin McCorkle and Carl (Judy) McCorkle of Fort Loramie; sister, Ellen (Carl) Harshman of St. Louis; numerous nieces, nephews, and two aunts. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Attenweiler; sister-in-law, Neta McCorkle; step-father, O.W. "Buster" Nawman; step-mother, Laila (Smith) McCorkle, and former husband, John Attenweiler.

Corky was a graduate of Piqua Central High School Class of 1944. She was employed at Piqua National Bank & Trust Company before graduating. She was the College Street Branch Manager for years and Assistant Vice President before retiring in 1985. She was a board member of the Piqua Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary and bookkeeper for 12 years of the Piqua Memorial Gift Gallery. She had been a volunteer treasurer of many organizations; the Fractured Follies, the UVMC Lifeline Systems, Piqua Leisure Club, and the Piqua Coin Club. She was an Auxiliary member and volunteer at Upper Valley Medical Center where she received a milestone award for over 16,500 volunteer hours. Corky was a member of the American Business Women's Association. She started her own ceramics business called Hopewell Ceramics and shared her love and talent for ceramics with many. Corky enjoyed traveling and golfing with a passion as she won many tournaments and attended the Masters for several years until she was unable to travel. She also loved going to craft shows, and tending to her lawn and gardens. She was very proud to receive the City of Piqua's Residence Pride Award in 2007 and was recognized for her outstanding display of flowers and foliage by the Four Seasons Garden Club. She formerly attended St. Boniface Catholic Church.

A graveside service to honor her life will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Cynthian Township.
