LOIS M. PRESTON

Lois M. Preston, 76, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 10:03 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Hospice of Miami County. She was born June 11, 1948 in Pineville, Kentucky to the late Roy and Lillian (Presley) Norton. She married William I. Preston August 24, 1966 in Celina; and he preceded her in death October 27, 2013.

Survivors include a daughter, Tracy (Jeff McClelland) Cecil of Piqua; a grandson, Mark Cecil, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Alexis (William) Alexander, Kyle Cecil, Lane Persinger; three great great grandchildren, Jazmyn, William, Colton; and four siblings, June (Don) Bricker of Wapakoneta, Ron Norton of Celina, Ponzie (Rick) Guidry of Savannah, Georgia, and Wanda (Larry) McNaughton of Celina; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Mark Norton, Aubrey Norton, Johnny Allen Norton; a sister, Genetta Cook; and a sister-in-law, Jayne Norton.

Mrs. Preston worked in the Environmental department at Upper Valley Medical Center for over 25 years before she retired. She earned the Employee of the Month numerous times while employed at the hospital. She was a lover of animals, especially when it came to cats. She was affectionately called “The Cat Whisperer” by her family and friends. She loved the outdoors and was known to walk the paths at Forest Hill Cemetery every day. She also enjoyed fishing, tending her flowers in her gardens and enjoying a picnic. She looked forward to vacations to Florida and her favorite destination, Walton’s Mountain in Schuyler, Virginia. Additionally, she loved her grandchildren and will be missed by many who will remember her enjoying her rocking chair, barefoot, on the front porch.

A graveside service to honor her life will begin at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
