Lisle was a 1956 graduate of Elida High School, and Wittenberg University in 1960. He enjoyed a notable career as the Executive Director of the Miami County YMCA until his retirement in 1994. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors of the Shelby County A.A.A. Growing in his faith was important to him as evidenced by his active membership at the Grace Methodist Church and his Walk to Emmaus. One of his most cherished activities and when he felt closest to the Lord, was being part of the ‘Grace Notes’ quartet at Grace Methodist. Smitty loved nature, and he and his wife traveled to almost every National Park in the United States. He enjoyed bird watching, and kept an extensive list of all the bird species he witnessed in his lifetime. He recorded 86 species in his nature journal! He will be remembered for his sense of humor, friendship, making the world a little better, and most of all, his love for his family.
