LELA JEANETTE COLEMAN

 Lela Jeanette Coleman, 91, of Piqua, died at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in the comfort of her daughter’s home. She was born August 24, 1930 in Glen Dale, West Virginia to the late Fred and Mona (Church) Clovis. She married David R. Coleman and he preceded her in death December 16, 2004.

Survivors include one son, Bruce Friend of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one daughter, Margaret “Peggy” (Thomas) Hines of Piqua; three stepchildren, Karen (James) McKittrick of Millers Port, David Coleman of Laurelville, Susan (Jon) Ackers of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; her sister, Ann Fensel of Atlanta, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren; and her faithful dog, Charlie. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Mrs. Coleman was a graduate of Piqua Central High School. She and her husband David were the founders and former owners of Island House on Liebs Island at Buckeye Lake, the former owners of Lone Pine RV Park in Mission, Texas as well as the owner of a motel in Port Mansfield, Texas. She was a member of the Mid County Church of Christ. She was active with the Order of Easter Star #320 and the American Legion Post #184. Lela loved fishing and traveling, her dogs and spending time with her family and friends. She will truly be missed.

A service to honor her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Kim Cape officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami County Animal Shelter, 1110 N. County Rd. 25A, Troy, OH 45373.
