KATELYN MARIE LEWIS

Katelyn Marie Lewis, 25, of DeGraff, formerly of Piqua, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022 while surrounded by her family and beloved pets. She is survived by her parents, Stephanie & Brian (Petrequin) Sells and Matt & Julie Lewis; her sister, Kristen Lewis; and her stepbrothers, Evan Sells, Jayden Sells; and her grandparents, Lynn Niswonger, Peg Sells, Sheila Petrequin and Donald Lewis. Her quality of life was enhanced by many wonderful friends and caregivers who provided love and support. Katelyn was preceded in death by her grandmother, Kathy Lewis; grandfathers, Keith Petrequin, Bob Niswonger, Storm Sells; great grandparents, Herbert and Ida Pencil, Patricia Moran, John and Grace Tripp, and Pete and Ann Lewis.

Katelyn was a member of A Kid Again, A Special Wish, and was a 2016 graduate of Piqua High School. Katelyn faced many challenges with her cerebral palsy that set her apart from her peers in many ways, but she made friends everywhere she went. Her bright blue eyes and beautiful smile would light up your soul. Her laughter was contagious. Her love of music made her van rides fun and helped her through the many hospital stays. She was guarded and loved by her fur babies through the years. Her favorite time of the year was summer when she could soak up the sun or float in the pool. She may have never walked or talked but she left footprints on the hearts of her loved ones. She was a light of purity and happiness. The family was so blessed to have their Christmas Angel, but now she flies with butterflies.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her doctors; Dr. Cheryl Kuck, Dr. Susan Davis-Brown, Dr. David Franz, Dr. Stephen Wolf, Dr. Adam Mezoff, Dr. Michal Albert; as well as Dayton and Cincinnati Children’s and their staff, especially 3 West at Dayton Children’s, as well Cherish Hospice. They provided care with dignity, grace and treated Katelyn’s family like their own in the hardest of times.

A service to honor her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
