JOSEPH MICHAEL PAYTON

Joseph Michael Payton, 54, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away at Miami Valley Hospital on December 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 13, 1969 to Joseph C. and Gretchen Payton in Mansfield, Ohio.

He is survived by his two children – Joseph Payton of Sidney, and Amanda (Jeremy Wilson) Payton of Piqua – and five grandchildren – Jayde, Karli, Raven, Tyler, and Colton. He is also survived by his father, Joseph C. Payton of Mt. Gilead, three siblings – Rhonda (Chris) Angel of Mt. Gilead, Jodi (Chris) Smith of Williamsburg, and Steve (Melissa) Payton of Chillicothe, along with five nieces and nephews, one great-nephew, and many dear friends and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gretchen J. Payton.

Joe graduated from Northmor High School in Galion, Ohio in 1987, where he was a gifted musician and performer in various bands, choirs, and musicals. He attended Circleville Bible College and Edison State Community College. He would later use his musical gifts in church ministry. He also spent time in the Ohio Air National Guard, from which he was honorably discharged.

Joe was a long-time employee of Hartzell Propeller in Piqua, and Reliable Castings in Sidney. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and close group of friends. He was truly selfless, and loved by all who knew him.

A service to honor his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Myers officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. also on Wednesday at the funeral home.
