John Y. Sayers, 55, of Tipp City, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, October 10, 2021 at his residence. He was born March 20, 1964 in Bristol, Tennessee to the late William Y. and Janet A. (Luckey) Sayers.
Survivors include his brother, William (Alice) Sayers of Cincinnati; his good friend, Natalie Price; also many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Sayers was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School Class of 1982, and went on to graduate from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and also Wright State University with a degree in Geology. John was a proud U.S. Navy veteran during the Gulf War Conflict. He previously had worked as a funeral director in the area and also as a Geologist for Wright State. John enjoyed listening to music, especially when it was played on the keyboard. He was known for being a history buff, particularly of the Napoleonic period and the U.S. Civil War, but had a passion for all aspects of world history.
A service to honor his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor David R. Thomasson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery with full military honors being provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
